My wife and I were in the middle of the immigration process to Canada when we had to obtain Police Clearance Certificates from previous places of our residence. I used to reside in the city of Sanya (Hainan Province, China) over a decade ago. The problem was that I worked for 3 different companies, and stayed in 4 different apartments between 2008 and 2011. I studied in China between 2017 and 2022, during this time, I met my husband who is a US citizen, we got married and started an immigration process for me to move to the US to be with him. It’s 2025, the process took three years and two weeks before my consular interview. I go to the embassy and I’m told that I will need a new police certificate from China.
